The A-MAN Inc. STEM Communities mission is to utilize Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) -related projects as a motivational tool and advance the educational achievement, and the intellectual and career development of African-American, Latino and other minority students K thru 12th grades. A-MAN Inc., seeks partnerships with individuals and institutions who share the vision to increase diversity in the special interest fields of science and technology.

Celebrating the 22nd Annual Tom Bradley Dinner

A-MAN, Inc. held its 22nd annual recognition dinner on Friday, June 7 at the New STEM Gem Headquarters in Civic Center Inglewood. The Ribbon Cutting was the focal point of the Gala event which was led by Inglewood Mayor James Butts, Jr. The theme of the gala recognition dinner is Youth, Education, Technology.

Those in attendance had an evening of joy listening to the young A-MAN male achievers and the young ladies achievers present their Role Models. MC Toni Guinyard , who commits to supporting the annual event, introduced a stellar performance by the UrbanArts Theatre West. They are now in partnership with A-MAN, Inc. as the artists in residence. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics is now Science, Technology,Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEM to STEAM).

Families, community supporters and friends made their well wishes known as the A-MAN, Inc. STEM Center represents the headquarters for local, national and international programs. The Consul General from South Africa introduced a delegation who traveled to Inglewood specifically to tour the Center and attend the Tom Bradley Dinner. They are planning to implement the A-MAN, Inc. STEM Center program in the Eastern Cape.

Honorees : Mayor James Butts, Jr., Gloria Gray, Director, West Basin Municipal Water District, Senator Rod Wright, 35th District, Assemblyman Steven Bradford, 51st District, Councilman Eloy Morales, 3rd District, Marla Bleavins, acting assistant General Manager, Los Angeles Convention Center, the 2013 Legacy Achiever, Patricia Kirk-McAlpine, adjunct professor, Defense Acquisition University,San Diego, Desma Reid-Coleman, highly successful Detroit businesswoman and Judge Kevin Ross were positive Role Models for the students to meet.

Byron Reed, Dinner Chair, Sr. VP, Wells Fargo and US Bank were sponsors Asa well as Willie Brown, editor, Inglewood Today.

The A-MAN, Inc. Summer Academy begins June 24 from 9am to 6 pm daily and the After School Academy starts September 9 while the Saturday Science Academy begins on September 14, 2013.
